DP FINAL FOURS

The Dr. Phillips High School boys basketball team has made it to 'The Final Four' in Lakeland an amazing 6 times in the last 15 years.  The Panthers made three consecutive trips to the Final Four in 1995-96, 1996-97, and 1997-98 under Coach Theo McWhite.  Unfortunately the Panthers had to face national powerhouse Miami Senior High School all three times in the state semifinals and came up short each time.  Miami Senior would go on and win the state championship in all three of those years.

The Panthers have made three Final Four appearances under Anthony Long.  DP reached Lakeland in 2006-07, 2009-10, and 2010-11.  Each time the Panthers won the Class 6A state semifinal game and made it to the Class 6A state championship game.  Unfortunately the Panthers came up short in all three state title games, but there remains a lot of pride in the Dr. Phillips basketball program for getting so far.  There are 96 teams in Class 6A and the Panthers have been among the last four teams 6 times and among the last two teams standing 3 different times.  The Panthers are extremely proud of these wonderful accomplishments, but there still is one step left to overcome to achieve the ultimate prize - a state championship.

Below is a photo gallery of the Panthers three most recent trips to high school basketball's ultimate destination in Florida - the Lakeland Center.
